C-Span has uploaded " virtually every minute " of its video archives to its web site, C-SpanVideo.org . The archive coverage starts in 1987 and contains more than 160,000 hours of footage. There are about 10,000 hours of tapes from before 1987 (the network was established in 1979), which will be eventually added to the site as well. From Et Seq.

The U.S. Supreme Court launched its new redesigned web site last week. [Read the Court's press release ]. The new design is certainly more visually pleasing, and less dated, than the former site. Improvements include making recent Court decisions available directly from the homepage, an interactive Court oral argument calendar, and easier navigation. The new site is certainly a step in the right direction. Hopefully, the Court will continue to make more of its information available electronically through its web site. From Law Librarian Blog .

Last night was the biggest night of the year in Hollywood - the 82nd Academy Awards! Complete with a theater full of glamorous movie stars , two hilarious co-hosts , an impressive list of nominees , and some heart-felt acceptance speeches , it was certainly a night to remember. P.S. FDsys.gov is the U.S. Government Priting Office's new online content management and delivery system. It is replacing the 15-year-old GPO Access website. Complete migration of content to FDsys.gov is expected to be complete in April, with a full switcher to FDsys expected this summer. Archive-It is a project of Internet Archive , the non-profit behind the well-known Wayback Machine that allows users to locate older, archived versions of websites. The Internet Archive, while having an extensive collection of web pages, does not have the resources to archive everything that is currently on the Internet. With Archive-It , the Internet Archive is partnering with universities, libraries, governments, and other institutions to archive selected websites. Partner institutions, who pay a susbscription fee to participate, select groups of webpages to preserve, and users are able to search or browse these archives on the the Archive-It website. Examples of collections include 2010 Iranian Blogs (Stanford University), 2008 Elections in North Carolina (University of North Carolina), Flood of 2008 Collection (University of Iowa), and Terrorism in Indonesia (National Library of Australia).
