Welcome Back! Changes at the Moritz Law Library

The Moritz Law Library would like to welcome new and returning students for the fall semester. You may notice a few changes to the library, which are outlined more fully in our COVID-19 Library Updates guide, available at: https://moritzlaw.osu.libguides.com/COVIDLibraryUpdate

Here are a few key points for you to know before you return to the library:

  • Don't forget your mask. Students are required to wear a mask while using the library.

  • Accessing the library. Students, faculty, and staff must swipe into the library using their BuckID. Access is limited to the library's operating hours, which are available on the library's website, here: https://moritzlaw.osu.edu/lib/. This means that all students must leave the library at closing.

  • Reserving a study space. Students will reserve available seats before entering the library using our seat reservation system, available here: https://moritzlaw.libcal.com/spaces. Using the reservation system will keep our fellow Buckeyes safe and improve our ability to contact trace. More information on how to use the seating reservation system is available on our guide.

  • Social distancing and sanitizing. In accordance with the university's social distancing requirements, the law library has limited the number of available tables, seats, and carrels and established a maximum occupancy. High touch surfaces will be cleaned twice daily, but in order to keep study spaces sanitized between cleanings, hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes are available throughout the library.

  • Using the "loud floor." To provide students a space within the law school to watch and participate in their remote classes, the first floor of the library will be a "loud floor." Although talking is permitted, students are required to wear masks on the loud floor. (Note that the first floor of the library is the ground floor--NOT the same floor as the Circulation Desk).

  • Beverages in the library. Food is not permitted in the library; the college has designated other spaces for students to safely use while eating. Students will be allowed, however, to momentarily lift their masks in order to take a sip from their water bottle

  • Using print materials. To make sure materials are quarantined after each use, the entire library collection, including the Reserve Room, will be roped off. Students who wish to use print materials will need to make a request using the Library Catalog. More information on Circulation Services is available on our guide.

  • Online study aids. Need a study aid? We've got plenty. The library's newest addition is the LexisNexis Digital Library, which provides students with access to over 700 study aids, including the Understanding, Skills and Values, and Mastering series. For online study aids from Wolters Kluwer, West Academic, CALI, and others, please see our Law School Academic Success guide.
